Robert Smith’s catalog is translated into gritty Great Plains home recordings on Nance’s new Shameless Kiss LP. As usual, the song titles are all changed, and there’s no mention of the Cure on Bandcamp beyond a doctored photo of Smith featured on the cover art. Some of the readings are fairly straightforward, like the “Lovesong” cover “You Make Me Feel Like I Am Free Again.” Others transform the material, like “Dinner,” a banjo-infused spin on “Lullaby.” Fans of either artist will find something to geek out about here. Listen below.

FendiDa Rappa a aIn The Trunka (Feat. GloRilla)

Last year, the Memphis rapper GloRilla erupted out of the underground, scoring a couple of massive hits and ending the year with the release of her Anyways, Life’s Great… EP. Addy, the musical project of Philly-based Addy Watkins, has a wonderful new EP out today. As Watkins explains in a note to Bandcamp followers, recording for Temperance started in Nashville in the summer of 2021 with Watkins’ co-producer Collin Pastore, known for his work with Lucy Dacus. (Notably, Dacus shot the photo that became the cover art.) It’s full of brisk but tender songs with forceful backbeats tying together gorgeous, delicate arrangements, tracks situated somewhere between folk-rock, alt-country, and indie-pop. It’s a decidedly post-Pinegrove sound, laced with acoustic guitars and pedal steel and conjuring a moody vibe similar to Pennsylvania peers like Slaughter Beach, Dog and Another Michael.
